Chichen Itza
Considered one of the New 7 Wonders of the World, Chichen Itza has been a UNESCO world heritage site since 1988. These famous Mayan pyramids are located two hours from Cancun & the Mayan Riviera.
The pyramids include the now famous pyramid of Kukulkan, the Temple of the Warriors, the ball game, the nuns and the snail among others.
There is a sacred cenote, a huge one and open as a well where archaeologists found ceramics, fabric, gold, jade and skeletons.
You can also visit Valladolid, Yucatan, a colonial town in the middle of the Yucatan Peninsula really close to Chichen Itza. Valladolid will show you a typical Mayan living style, calm and relaxed people and nice small businesses around the plaza.
